Services & Fit

What we do, and for whom.

What services does ClearMinds offer?

ClearMinds offers four distinct pathways: leadership and organizational advisory for founders, executives, and teams; private-pay telehealth psychotherapy and Gottman-informed couples therapy for adults physically located in Georgia or New York; non-clinical personal coaching; and gender-affirming care evaluations and letters for adults. ClearMinds Studio also publishes journals and tools for reflection and intentional growth. Therapy, coaching, advisory, and Studio products are separate services kept distinct on purpose.

Who is Dr. Thomas A. Vance?

Dr. Thomas A. Vance, PhD, LPC, LMHC, is a licensed psychotherapist, leadership advisor, and PhD-trained counseling psychology scholar. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York, completed a Clinical and Research Postdoctoral Fellowship in LGBT Health at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, serves as Part-Time Faculty at The New School, and is co-editor of Sexual Racism and Social Justice (Oxford University Press, 2024). He is the founder of ClearMinds, The Clarity Company, based in Atlanta.

What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy is clinical care: diagnosis and treatment for concerns like anxiety, depression, grief, and relational patterns, available to adults located in Georgia or New York. Coaching is non-clinical: a structured, GROW-informed thinking partnership around goals, decisions, and accountability, with no diagnosis, no treatment, and no mental-health assessment. If clinical needs emerge during coaching, ClearMinds will recommend therapy or another appropriate referral. Not sure which fits? Say so in your inquiry — the consultation will sort it honestly.

What is ClearMinds Advisory, and who is it for?

ClearMinds Advisory is psychology-informed leadership and organizational advisory for founders, executives, and mission-driven teams navigating growth, culture, change, and human-centered AI adoption. Engagements range from a focused Leadership Clarity Intensive to diagnostics, 8-to-12-week strategic projects, ongoing partnerships, custom facilitation, and team coaching. Advisory is not psychotherapy and does not involve diagnosis or treatment. Every engagement is scoped and priced in a written proposal after a short, no-pressure conversation.

Fees, Insurance & Logistics

Clear terms, in writing.

How much does therapy cost?

Individual intake and therapy sessions are $200 for 50 minutes. Couples sessions are $250 for 60 minutes. Coaching is $200 for 50 minutes and is non-clinical. A gender-affirming care evaluation with one letter is a $300 flat fee. Every new client relationship starts with a complimentary 15-minute consultation.

Does ClearMinds accept insurance?

ClearMinds is private pay and does not bill insurance directly. For psychotherapy, superbills are available on request, which you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coaching is not clinical care, is not billed to insurance, and no superbill is provided.

Where is therapy available? Do I have to be in Georgia or New York?

Psychotherapy is available via telehealth only, to adults physically located in Georgia or New York at the time of session. This is a licensing requirement, not a preference. Sessions are held by secure video through SimplePractice. ClearMinds does not see minors.

How do gender-affirming care evaluations work, and what do they cost?

ClearMinds provides WPATH SOC-8-informed evaluations for adults located in Georgia or New York: hormone-related support letters, surgical readiness or referral letters, legal name or gender-marker letters, and comprehensive psychosocial evaluations when clinically appropriate. The standard evaluation plus one letter is a $300 flat fee, including requirement review, one authorized transmission, and one reasonable revision within 30 days. Letters are typically delivered within 7 to 10 business days after the evaluation and all required information are complete. Ongoing therapy is not routinely required. A letter is not guaranteed before the evaluation is complete.
